“Working in porcelain as I do, the material is inherently translucent and white which is one of the qualities that first attracted me to it. When you pick up a small blue and white bowl from the kiln, and the light shines through between your fingers… This quality is perfect for the material to be used with light and I have long been attracted to these potentials. In this current work, I have begun to explore further the ways that light can be incorporated in with porcelain to enhance the material.” Alistair Whyte. From ‘And There Was Light’ exhibition on until 26 March 2007 at Cudgegong Gallery (downstairs).
